NVIDIA / Java conflct

Hi folks

 

I have an Intel Core2 Quad PC which has 2 NVIDIA graphics cards in it, both running 2 monitors, so 4 monitors in total.

 

First is a Quadro FX1500, the second a Quadro FX380.

 

I have the latest version of Java installed.

 

When I am running some Java based charting software, I get things happening like the screen goes black, or freezes grey and doesn't draw the graphics. If I try to open another window with other streaming data, that will crash the already open charts etc. These kinds of problems. Yesterday also, for no reason, the PC just shut down. (I read about someone having this problem back in 2005 on another forum!)

 

I spoke with the software vendor many times and only today have they said it's not their fault but a conflict between my graphics cards and Java.

 

Anyone got any experience of this or have a clue how to resolve the issue?

First thing to do is vist the Graphics Card's Vendor's website and make sue that you have the latest Drivers installed.

 

Also check the Device manager for any obvious issues with drivers.

 

Have you tried this using just 1 Graphics card with the 1 monitor to see if the issues persist?

 

Is your power supply powerful enough to cope with the 2 Graphics cards abd 4 monitors?

 

Try Uninstalling Jave completly and then re installing it..... Note that there were Driver quality issues between Nvida & ATI/Java, there are fixes for this on there website, see link below... However, I do believe that the issue has been resolved apparently.

 

There have been many issues between Nvidia/ATI and Java in the past and present, You will need to take a look at the Documentation on the release notes at Oracal.com http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/6u10-142936.html

 

It is also possible it could be memory issue so have you ran several memory tests using memtest86 and or switching your Ram about.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I was going to use memtest86 but I can't seem to get the damn image file to work in MagicISO to burn it to CD!

You could try PowerISO. I've had a lot of success using PowerISO over MagicISO.

Yeah, the strange thing is that the first bit opens with MagicISO but the .iso file inside that is associated with PowerISO - I am no expert with these things but have always got them to work in the past - this memtest is proving to be tricky!

Just right click and open with powerISO then it will open up with the selected program ;-)

 

Once you have it burned to a CD make sure you run a couple of tests.
