Reatime Protection causes my windows to lag

When I insert my mouse or any other usbs on my laptop, my windows lags. But if I disable real time protection from windows defender, the lag dissapears. This is most likely caused by real time protection. I need a solution regarding this and I don't want to disable real time protection.
