In brief in would like to install a educational volume license version of XP

PRO over top of XP Home OEM version. Can this be done without having to

reformat and reinstall?

I installed the latter by mistake and now need to correct the installation

license. In case someone is wondering I own both copies.

It's quick and easy to check.

Insert the XP VL CD in your running XP Home version and look at the options

when the autorun appears. If "upgrade" is available, you can do this.

If it isn't, you will be best off by doing a clean install, starting with at

least a format. You would also get a message saying that you can't do an

upgrade.
