It's a common problem today. I recommend uninstalling ZA and installing the built-in Windows firewall instead. ZA has no advantages over the Windows firewall. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP - Windows Desktop Experience Please Reply to the Newsgroup

I do agree that the MS firewall has come a long way and is much better than ever, but I like the extra control of ZA On one PC I have done a restore to the 7th and the other I un-installed ZA, I don't know what I am going to do with my other six computers yet... Guest Rey Santos Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Re: be warned newest updates from Microsoft and ZoneAlarm issues I am also having the same problems on my home network but was able to correct it. Try edtting the settings: Open ZoneAlarm > On the left click on Firewall > Click the Advance button > On Advanced Settings tab under Internet connection sharing, tick This computer is not on an ICS/NAT network (if you are not on a network) or This computer is a client of an ICS/NAT gateway running ZoneAlarm or This computer is an ICS/NAT gateway as applicable to Particular computer, then select the correct local address(i.e. 192.168.0.1 for the gateway computer). -- Rey "Clark..." wrote: > Ken Blake, MVP wrote: > > On Wed, 9 Jul 2008 21:58:58 -0400, "Clark..." > > <Clark_throwaway@yahoo.com> wrote: > > > >> On two computers here (my office) both with Zone Alarm and installed > >> newest upates from MS > >> lost internet connectivity, the solution so far is to disable ZA or > >> uninstall it, or do a friggen restore point before the MS update. > >> I tried to install the latest ZA but no help... > >> any ideas? > > > > > > It's a common problem today. For instance, in http://www.pcqanda.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=2&topic_id=486166&mesg_id=486167#486167 it says: "...I don't have ZA, I've got NOD32 ESS but is that really the problem? ...[etc.]" Also, pl. see http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/media-alert-check-point-provides/story.aspx?guid=%7BFC6B94E2-0979-4173-92BF-9AF2C9F677D5%7D&dist=hppr "MEDIA ALERT: Check Point Provides ZoneAlarm Customers Solution for Loss of Internet Access Which May Occur after Installation of Microsoft Update KB951748", which I am in the process of reading.

Update: For those who want to continue using ZA in preference to Windows firewall, ZA has released new versions which apparently work correctly.
