SHED-OF-BOOKS Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Hi Confusing one, this.... Have been happily using HP D2400 inkjet printer on both family laptops for many years. However when connected to laptop 1 i'm now unable to print because of a door open error message. When connected to laptop 2 it prints fine. This tells me there's nothing wrong with the door sensors, the USB cable or the printer itself but can anyone suggest why the error message appears on one laptop but not the other? and how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance.... Quote
RandyL Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Maybe a reinstall of the software might help. If you go to HP Support you can download the software and updates. There should be a diagnostics utility there to. A quick glance at the US site lists 4 different models in the 2400 series. Also have a read here. 'The Cover is Open' Message Displays on the Computer for one of the models. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. michelsmith Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Hi, First try unplugging the printer for 5 minutes and then plug it back in and see if that resets it. If not, it's likely a hardware issue. Lift up the printer door and look for a switch or latch that is pressed down - or should be - when the door is closed. It's likely that this switch has broken off and that's why it is not detecting it. If you can find it, you can tape it down or rig it up. Quote
