DVD Not Seen Via My Computer in DVD drive

I have a Compaq Presario c300 using Windows XP. I can see the DVD

drive in BIOS and Device Manager. However, when I place a DVD movie

or software CD in the drive, the Autoplay does not turn on, nor can I

see the DVD/CD files, or play the movie via My Computer. It simply

prompts me to either format or eject the DVD/CCD.

When I access the DVD drive directly through Media Player or HP's

Video Software, it does see the movie and will play it.

Any suggestions on how to make the DVD drive see the CD/DVD that is

inserted into it via My Computer or to have it automatically

detected? Thank you for your time.

Check your registry for the presence of upper and lower filters per the article

cited below. Delete if found.

Be sure to restart the computer after making these changes.
