External drive folder "invisible"

Win XP MCE 2005 suddenly is unable to "see" the contents of my music storage

folder on a Maxtor external hard drive connected by USB, instead showing the

folder in Win Explorer and in My Computer as being empty. Once in a while it

shows the contents when I open Win Explorer, but usually not. Running

checkdisk doesn't help. Thanks.

Re: External drive folder "invisible"

I don't know the answer but when the folder is empty, what does the folder

show when you right click it and select properties? I assume it shows there

are files in the folder. Are there other files on the external drive that

show up when the music files do not? When the files are there, have you

tried transferring them to a new folder?
