Jelly Bean Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Hey Jay,what make and model is it please? Or do you know your system specs? Have you opened internet explorer thats if that is the browser you use, click tools-internet options and delete history, temp files etc... Then click start, all programs.system tools, disk cleanup, choose C drive then check all boxes and clean up..... Does that help? What antiviris program do you have? Can you think of any software you may of installed that could of caused this? Have you backed up your data and tried a system restore? Could you possibly have a virus? Jelly Bean Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Thankyou for the make n model and link.... I will sugest you visit our Malware section for a system checkup, run the scans as stated there,as I read your other thread about mum and dads machine, hence a checkup will not halm. Our security guys will check it and give you advice.... Once they give you the all clear we can go further if the problem still persists. In the mean time do the following: Click start/All Programs/Accessories/Right click on command prompt and choose Run As Admin. In the command prompt window type: SFC /SCANNOW and hit enter on your keyboard, let the scan run.... That is SFC space /SCANNOW..... Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
michelsmith Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Hi, Try to perform a clean boot, follow the steps below: 1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue. 2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup. 3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box. 4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All. 5. Click OK. 6. When you are prompted, click Restart. 7. After the computer starts, check if it works normally. Quote
GRANDAD Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Hi, do you have the Google tool bar on your INTERNET browser ? I've had the same problems as you have listed for a while now and have just disabled this tool bar and its great now! Quote
Boomer Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 What pre-installed software did it come with? (aka crapware) Post your Start up entries. You can find them by typing 'msconfig' in the search bar from the start menu. I recommend downloading service packs or updates from microsoft. Try disabling your anti virus and see how it runs. (But keep windows firewall on). Quote
