Guest Conrad Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 I have a customer with a windows 2003 std. server. When the server was installed the tech installed terminal services licensing. I was able to to uninstall terminal service licensing from add/remove windows components. I then enabled remote desktop administration from the system properties. Every time I try to remote into the server. An error message comes up telling me that the server has no terminal server available to give a license. Also when got to administrative tools. The terminal server licensing manager is listed. What could cause this?
Guest Anthony [MVP] Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Re: Administrative remote desktop Conrad. Different things. Is Terminal Services installed? Do you need it or want it? If not, remove it. You don't need it for remote desktop admin connection. Terminal Server Licensing in Add/Remove programmes is the TS licensing server. If no TS, then you don't need a licensing server. Terminal Server Licensing shortcut to the TS Licensing MMC in Administrative Tools. This is just the mmc for TS licensing, created when you install Terminal Services. It will connect to whichever server is installed as the licensing server. You do not need a licensing server installed to have this shortcut.
