Guest Crackle Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Recently added a 7 port usb. When run shredder, computer makes a crackling sound. Also, the mouse and keyboard are connected to usb port and the mouse is freezing on a regular basis since hooking up. Port is 2.0 high speed, but computer is an older Dell desktop. What is causing problem with mouse??
Guest R. McCarty Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Re: usb port If the PC produces crackling sound then the USB hub/wiring is acting like an antenna and transferring the RF generated by the shredder to the speakers/sound card. A mouse & keyboard is a high priority peripheral. A Seven port hub is still limited by the on-board USB 2.0 controller/hub's total bandwidth and power constraints that serves the expansion hub. A better solution is a PCI based USB card. It will have it's own dedicated controller/hubs and not be limited like your current setup.
