Guest QuyNguyen Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Hi, My Windows XP professional sp1 has some files corrupted. I try to upgrade to xp2 to fix the problem. I tried to install sp2 but it also failed. I use the slipstream cd with sp2 to run it in CD drive and select the upgrade option in the installation. after accept agreement it window key entering popup. I entered the key (which is correct) but it sayid "the Cd key which you entered is invalid, Please try again". I am 100% sure that the key I entered is correct and I also try different CD from my company it still say the samething. I also use the original key (EOM) which at the bottom of the laptop. How can I fix this? Any help is very appriciated. Thanks

For example, a WinXP Home OEM Product Key won't work for any retail version of WinXP Home, or for any version of WinXP Pro, and vice versa. An OEM Product Key will not work to install a retail product. An Italian Product Key will not work with an English CD. Bottom line: Product Keys and CD/license types cannot usually (it's been reported that the Product Key for a full license will work with an Upgrade CD) be mixed & matched. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555375 They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. ~Bertrand Russell The philosopher has never killed any priests, whereas the priest has killed a great many philosophers. ~ Denis Diderot
Guest QuyNguyen Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Re: CD product key reject Hi Bruce, Thank you for your reply I have both CD, the original CD go with the laptop, and other CD from my company. It does not work if I use either one of them. Even the product keys I enter are the correct ones. I think that some system files is corrupted and now It not let me to install and upgrade OS from any cd. Is ther a way to set up registry to get it work again?
