Error: "error creating window"

A couple of weeks ago I started getting this error message. When the error

happens, the error message box doen't always come up...sometimes the new

window or program just won't open. I'll be going along using my computer

without any problems and then all of a sudden, I can't open any new

windows...no new windows in Internet Explorer, no new programs, no new

folders...nothing. I can restart my computer and then it will be fine for

awhile (maybe 30 minutes or 1 hour), but then it starts with the same problem

again. I've completely updated Norton and AdAware and run full scans on my

computer, but nothing was found. What's causing this???

Hi,

I'm not sure what your problem is?

Do you have a development Applications you use to programs or write software

on this machine such as:

VB, C#,C++, Java, Ax,PHP..etc.

Or did you install new programs recently on your machine, if so please state

what they are.

Here som info may help if not then we need the error messages from the Event

Viewer.

http://forums.msdn.microsoft.com/en/clr/thread/f099275d-3f13-4984-acde-f453e69b978d/

Use the below tool to see in real time what causing the error.

ShellExView v1.23 - Shell Extensions Manager

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

Open a Notepad, customize or minimize to the taskbar as you will need it

later for this step to copy the error message on it.

Open a run command and type in:

eventvwr.msc click [OK] you will get the Event viewer control Panel.

click on each of these:

Application

System

Security

Look in the right Pane/window for error message with red (X) or Yellow

exclamation mark /!\ , double click each one to get more info about the

causer.

On the Event error properties message you will see:

Up Arrow

Down arrow

Two pages

Click on the two pages to copy the error message then bring up the Notepad

you opened earlier and right click on the first line and select Paste from

the list, this will paste the error message on a Notepad.

Please don't duplicate the error message one of each kind will be sufficient.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

Please we need just the error messages with Red (X) and don't repeat the

error, just one of each kind and post them back in your next post.

RE: Error: "error creating window"

My problem is exactly what I said...after 30-45 minutes on the computer, I'm

no longer able to open new windows, folders and programs. When I right-click

on anything, the right-click menu won't come up. When I click on the Start

menu and then try to click on anything in it, nothing will open. Can't even

open the Task Manager.

I don't write software or programs, so the answer to your first question is

no. The only new programs I've installed are games from Reflexive, which I've

been doing for over a year, so I doubt that is the problem. I've recently had

to start using the Content Advisor feature with Internet Explorer because my

(12 year old) son was visiting websites and downloading programs, but I dont'

know what all he's downloaded. The list of items marked with a Red X is long,

but here you go:

Re: Error: "error creating window"

You need to boot your system with the absolute minimum required software and

see if the issue continues. If not, then you need to investigate the

programs that load at startup, and then one you use frequently, one at a

time.

How to perform advanced clean-boot troubleshooting in Windows XP

You will also want to ensure that you have a quality anti-virus and

anti-spyware program, with all updates and scan your system for infection.

Do you really want to trust someone that was banned from posting

directly to Microsoft Usenet servers, someone that has posted links to

pornographic materials on HIS WEBSITE, who's website is in the MVP HOST

Block list, and who provides a tool for your use that will block access

to reputable anti-malware sites without telling you he's doing it?

And do you really want to trust someone that has had to change their

posting identity after being busted by MS as a fake MVP?
