RandyL Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Hi aj526. This is usually caused by an upper/lower filter entry in the registry. Goku wrote a reg fix for this at Fix CD Drive Download and save the file. Right click the folder to extract the zipped contents. Open the new folder. Right click the reg file and select merge. aj526 Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 i downloaded that file and done what you said and it still isnt working the driver still has a yellow "!" next to it and it still isn't showing in "computer". i went into properties of the driver and got this information for you to see,"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". the disc drive runs when i put a cd in but then stops altogether. if anyone has any other sugestions i would appreciate it and be willing to try them. thanks :) Oh and i rebooted my laptop like it said on goku's post. RandyL Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Try going back to device manager and right clicking it so you can delete or remove the device. Then reboot and Windows should reinstall it with the correct drivers. Try running the Fix it on the page. http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us Also consider that the drive itself is bad. It is not uncommon for these to fail. Try a different drive or try your drive in another computer. Let us know please. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else.
