Guest Alberto Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 I am running Win XP Sp2 and I am getting a message that autochk.exe cannot be found so startup is skipping autocheck. I have used Windows Explorer and the Command line to find that it exists. I have checked my Registry and there isn't a key named "Bootexecute" that is mentioned in several documents and discussions. Should I create the key and enter "Autocheck autochk *" ?

Yes, you could do this. You should, of course, ask yourself how this key could have disappeared. You might also use System Restore if this is a recent issue.
Guest Alberto Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Re: Can't find autochk.exe on startup My System Restore was not able to use any of the dates I was choosing. I had to turn it off and turn it back on to start over. I am not experienced enough to know why BootExecute disappeared; I may have un-checked a box in the Startup section of the System Restore but I am not sure. I know I can create the key - Should I? Thanks "Pegasus (MVP)" wrote: > > "Alberto" <Alberto@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:F399934F-6082-46EF-BE38-416F83AE0D79@microsoft.com... > >I am running Win XP Sp2 and I am getting a message that autochk.exe cannot > >be > > found so startup is skipping autocheck.
