Guest tonyhoward2000 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Re: USB Device associated with wrong program Thanks, that cured my similar problem with a USB memory stick, but I also have Photoshop opening when I plug in my scanner. (Windows XP) But in My Computer / (scanner) Xerox4800/ Properties I only have 'General' and 'Color Management' tabs, so I cannot switch it off. I think the opening of the program is actually preventing the scanner driver installing properly since it was during the Scanner Installation that it first happened when I plugged the scanner onto the USB Port. All other tests seem to indicate that the driver is working OK but the program cannot communicate with the scanner. -- tonyhoward2000

Here's what I would try: Within Photoshop, there may be an option to select the imaging device. Select the scanner. You could also remove the Photoshop software, remove the scanner, reinstall the scanner, reinstall Photoshop. Xerox might have a support page with that problem, but I couldn't find one with "4800" and "scanner" in the search engine. I believe there's another name involved. http://www.support.xerox.com/go/prodlist.asp?mode=full&Xlang=en_US -- Joe =o)
