I'm looking for a pointer to directions for creating a slipstream SP3

CD.

Also, if I do this, will the resulting CD be able to boot and do a

"repair" operation on an existing SP3 ? Or will it only do full

installs?

Thanks,

Re: Slipstream SP3?

Do a Google search for AutoStreamer version 1.0.33 - it is probably the

easiest 'help' you can get in slipstrteaming. It will make an ISO file which

you use to make a bootable CD. It will be no different in use or function

than your original XP CD.

Wonderful stuff!

A little additional information. After following the steps(they must be

done as an administrator) listed on the above page to slip stream the XP

Pro files with SP3(assume the resulting slipstreamed files were in

c:\xpsp3), to actually make the bootable iso image or to burn a CD, what

I did was (do not like Roxio or Nero):

Downloaded bbie (http://www.nu2.nu/bbie/) and used it to grab the

bootable image from the MS XP installation disk. bbie is just a binary,

no installation necessary (sweet!). The command used was (in command

prompt): bbie -v g:

where g: was my cdrom drive. It gave me the boot image file in the

current directory.

Next, I installed InfraRecorder (http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/)

which is an open source and free CD/DVD recorder for Windows (bye bye

Roxio and Nero). I selected all the contents of c:\xpsp3 to be burned. I

also specified the bootable image file(created by bbie) from Project

Properties of infrarecorder. Then I created an ISO image of the slip

streamed XP Pro. I was able to burn this ISO image to a CD using

infrarecorder (there was no need to actually create the ISO image, but I

wanted to retain it).

Viola! The XP Pro SP3 cd!

Regards.
