Guest M.D. Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I have two desktops running Windows XP on our home LAN and a laptop running Windows XP connected to our WLAN. I have mapped a network drive on the laptop to my NAS, where most of our media files are stored. When connected, everything works fine. However, after a reboot the network drive does not reconnect automatically. I have to open My Computer and then double-click on the disconnected network drive and then everything works fine again. It seems like it is a boot-up timing-issue. Windows is trying to mount network drive immediately on boot up even before my wireless connection is fully established. Is there something I can do to delay the mounting of this network drive for about 5 seconds until the wireless connection is established?

In your local computer policy enable "always wait for network at computer startup and logon" and see if it helps. Also make sure you're using the Windows wireless & not third party wireless client sw.

Is there any other way to delay the mounting of a drive?
