Guest James Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 1. does this run chkdsk.exe or scandisk.exe? 2. I ran this with only option 'scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors' selected, after a very long time it said it was done but gave no other information as to problems encountered if any, or that everything was ok... is there a log file somewhere I should check? I googled this and found info about results going to the application log in event viewer but that log showed nothing for me (no entries at all for this whole day so far, which I find odd, maybe there is another issue here)?

Check your VIEW in Event Viewer - View - All Records perhaps set for "filter" to only show "error"
Guest James Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Re: drive properties - tools tab - 'check now' Thanks for the reply Bobb, so there *should* be something in the event viewer application log then? I did check filters before and its set to show everything. Also, an unrelated entry was made to application log since my original post so the services which manage the log are working. NO - if all OK, may be not there - just wanted to check to make sure filters off. > > "- Bobb -" <bobb@noemail.123> wrote in message > news:uU7yj3e5IHA.1204@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... >> >> "James" <noone@nowhere.com> wrote in message >> news:uO10CFe5IHA.4268@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >>> 1. does this run chkdsk.exe or scandisk.exe? >>> >>> 2.
