Guest Ron Badour Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Re: I'm contiinuosly downloading the same thing! Can you give us more specific details please? Google is a search engine--what do you mean when you say you are using it to download? Are you downloading files or what? Are these pop ups that are hawking the software to you? What software? Right off hand, it sounds like you may have an infected system. -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP Windows Desktop Experience "Don J" <dej4400@comcast.net> wrote in message news:Zv2dnVY_xfLTn-HVnZ2dnUVZ_o3inZ2d@comcast.com... > I've just been using google to download some material from the internet. > All of a sudden what is downloaded is the same thing no matter what the > request is. Guest Guest Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Re: I'm contiinuosly downloading the same thing! Type in Start Run cmd /knetstat -o This will show all connections and may help narrow down what is downloading by seeing where you are connected and what program is connected. Look up the PID in Taskmanager (or type in Start Run Cmd /ktasklist) "Don J" <dej4400@comcast.net> wrote in message news:KL-dnRNmf4fxmuHVnZ2dnUVZ_r_inZ2d@comcast.com... > Those were some of the first things I tried. Guest Don J Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Re: I'm contiinuosly downloading the same thing! I started by using google to search for software under the "backup" title. It now doesn't make any difference what I put into the google box. I always get the same thing. Checked another installarion of Window XP, It doesn't have the problem Don J --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Ron Badour" <Sorry@NoAddressBuddy.com> wrote in message news:epgsS$h5IHA.4448@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Can you give us more specific details please? Guest PA Bear [MS MVP] Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Re: I'm contiinuosly downloading the same thing! What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? 1. Correct your computer's time, date, and time zone. 2. Physically disconnect the machine from the internet and close Windows. 3. Wait 5-10 minutes then reboot, then reconnect to the internet. Don J wrote: > Those were some of the first things I tried.
