Keys T, H and C doesn't work

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I know that is very strange but sometimes, keys T, H and C of my

keyboard doesn't work. If I press theses keys nothing appears on my

screen. But if I use capslock, I can use them ! It already occurs on

Word 2003, MOCS 2007 and IE7. I use WIndows XP Pro SP2 (MUI FRENCH).

Can you advice ?

Thanks !

Try a different keyboard. If this is a laptop, contact the laptop mftr.'s

tech support for keyboard replacement.

Hum. That's not an hardware problem.

The keyboard alway works fine with application like NOTEPAD or in the

Execute Windows (Windows + R).

And letters still work with capslock activated !

Well, you left out that information in your first post! If I could read

minds, I wouldn't be doing tech support for a living.

Without knowing anything about your computer (you left out all that

information, too) or its recent history, I can't guess.

If you're using multi media keyboard in could happen when some buttons around

the keyboard got stuck.

Re: Keys T, H and C doesn't work

Actualy, I have posted here because I wonder if someone already

experiences the same issue. There are often little issues like that

which have an answer like : "Oh just uncheck this case or this

settings". Now, if it is not a common issue I'll continue my

investigation. Maybe you have noticed (with my big gramatical

mistakes) that english isn't my mother tongue. So sorry if I disturb

you, that wasn't my intention.

I check all components related with Keybord, and the only solution I

found is to close all instances of "buggy" application in order to

recover theses keys. For example if my keys don't work on IE, I close

all instances of IE. And when I re-open it, my keys work well, if I'm

in Word application (Office 2003) I close Word and Outlook (my Outlook

use Word as defaut editor) and when I re-open it, my keys are ok.

That's very strange. For information, my keyboard is a standard PS2

keyboard without multimedia function and I have tried with 3 others

different keyboards. Issue is the same.

I notice this problem since I have my workstation (a new masterised

worksation as thousand others be and others haven't (yet?) experience

this issue - other IT guy mainly use Citrix Application, no me).

And issue is more and more frequent.

It doesn't bother me that English isn't your native tongue. I consider being

able to speak more than one language an asset. What bothers me is when

someone asks for help but provides no information about their computer, the

problem (answering The First Question), or what they've already done. This

has nothing to do with your native language.

Since the issue occurs with other keyboards, one can only surmise that you

have something running in the background that causes the problem. Do

clean-boot troubleshooting to find out. Or, as your computer is apparently

part of a business network, ask your IT Dept. to either fix it or give you

another computer.
