Guest EricG Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Hi Chkdks runs on startup on my son's PC. I have searched this forum and cannot find anything relevant to this problem. I have scanned with NIS2007 and TrendMicro Housecall (online scan) and found no problems. What other reasons might chkdsk run that I could investigate? EricG

Guest EricG Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Re: Chkdsk Runs at Startup Hi This was one of the avenues I explored from a search of this forum and it is not relevant to his problem. Any other suggestions? -- EricG "Bruno" wrote: > "EricG" wrote: > > Chkdks runs on startup on my son's PC. Guest ju.c Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Re: Chkdsk Runs at Startup Try resetting chkdsk by entering this string in a command window. 1. Open the run box and enter: cmd 2. Type: CHKNTFS /D 3. Restart to test. ju.c "EricG" <EricG@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:146679ED-48C0-42E7-A56C-3648508FC8A9@microsoft.com... > Hi > > Chkdks runs on startup on my son's PC. Guest EricG Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Re: Chkdsk Runs at Startup Thanks for the additional info. The problem seemed to be adware which was picked up using TrendMicro online scanning service (missed by Norton NIS 2007). Getting rid of the offending item seems to have cured the problem. -- EricG "ju.c" wrote: > Try resetting chkdsk by entering this string in a command window. > > 1.
