viewing two photos simultaneously

In deleting out some photos amongst my collection, I often want to compare

two or three shots that are more or less identical; with each other.

When I open one photo in the 'windows picture and fax viewer' and then open

another one in another window, the first one disappears.

So I can only have one window open at any one time. Since I want to compare

two or more photos simultaneously, how can I adjust the settings to allow

this please? thanks.

If you download the free FastStone Image Viewer 3.5, there is a tool

in there (represented by four squares in the toolbar) that allows you

to put two or more images on the screen for comparison.

It's a far better viewer in many other ways that the Windows viewer.

Try Picasa or IrfanView instead.

Open an image in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

Click the print button.

With the Print Wizard still on the screen, open another image.

Close the Wizard.

You should now have two instances of Windows Picture And Fax Viewer open.

Better still, get Irfanview and use the 'Create Panorama Image' option

which will allow you to display multiple images in the same window either

side-by-side or one atop the other.

to do just that last night! regards, richg99

Been years since I used a program called "Deduper".

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File-Management/Image-DeDuper.shtml

This displays two identical images side by side and you can choose

which to get rid of.

In cases like this I use the Film Strip View of Windows Explorer. You can

alternately click the thumbnails below it and compare.

Paris and Nicky Hilton of course.

For a girl, you're doing a good job of impersonating a guy.

Of course, you could be a "drag queen".

Irfanview, view the directory and hit "T" it will show all the photos

as thumbnails. (pictures next to each other).

Beats the Heck out of printing each picture you want to view.

Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/ is the standard for free video

graphics viewer, download the plugins and it will view almost any

graphics/video type.

Retriever is an old photo manipulation program. It has a feature which

will find pictures which are alike, with an adjustment for how much

similarity will trigger selection. Then it will show them side by side

so you can move or delete at will.

I'm too lazy to test it, but I don't think you have to actually print the

picture. Almost any Windows application, probably including WPFV, will wait

for you to select a printer or confirm the default.

Yes, but first you have to drag the images you want to compare so that

they are next to each other. Select the first one, and holding down

the shift key select the other or the rest. Then press the "P".
