I have an Active Directory environment with Exchange. Is there any

software (preferably free) that can accept SNMP trap messages from

various devices and email them?

Thanks.

Not free. You would need some sort of management tool, such as what comes

with your hardware. Dell has OpenView, and HP, IBM, etc, have their own

version, that you can configure. There are other tools as well, but I don't

know of a free one unless someone else has a better suggestion.

Re: How to get SNMP messages emailed

Thanks Ace,

the primary device I need alerts for is a large UPS unit from

Emerson. To my knowledge there is no management software from the

manufacturer. What would be my alternatives for a paid software?

Thanks.

For UPS, can't think of one off hand. How about the WIndows built-in one?

I know Windows has the Agent software builtin, but not an actual

management application. If I am wrong, where can I find this?

Thanks.

It's just a rudimentary set of commands that get installed with the SNMP

service. You will need to know MIBs and such to be able to understand how to

run them. This is why a pay-for version would be your better bet.
