Guest Wolfeymole Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Ok well according to this site here http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=NF520-A2 You got a setup driver with the board, did you install the driver? EDIT: I stand corrected Dave cheers mate Quote
hardware_dave Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 The hard drive is being detected as a native ide, so no driver disk should be needed. I have seen stranger stuff happen though. Dave Quote Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity
Guest Wolfeymole Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 I entirely agree Dave, it just seemed that we were dealing with a sata drive throughout this entire post. Quote
Merzbow Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 Seems like some weird shit is goin' down with my computer. XD I'll make sure everythings like you told me to have it. Then I'll try it again and let'cha know how it goes. Lez hope it works~ Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Keep in touch Merz and get back to us with any problems. Quote
Merzbow Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 I do believe I figured out why the heck it wasn't reading my CD-ROM Drive. ...My Motheboard does not have a CD-ROM connector. The thing I've got the ribbon cable into is the FDD1 or Floppy Disk Connector. Which is the only thing I can hook it into. It fit into my CD-ROM Drive so I figured that it was CD-ROM thing. But no, it's only a floppy connector. Any of that information sound right? Why would a mobo have a Floppy and not a CD thing? That doesn't make friggen sense. What does one do in this case? Where they've got no where to connect le CD? Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Floppy drive ribbon cable is narrower than hard drive or cdrom drive cable Merz. Your main connector looks to be the one to the left of the memory slots, hook the cdrom up to the middle connector on the hard drive ide cable. Make sure the jumper (little piece of plastic) on the back of the cdrom is set to Master. Edited: Reason: Incorrect information given. Quote
Merzbow Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 Son... of...a....mutha... Well, I just grabbed a cable and it fit into the CD Drive so I stuck it where it fit in the mobo. Which was the floppy thing. So if it goes in the IDE, that should fix it. And if it does, I'll feel so greatly retarded. Quote
hardware_dave Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Sorry wolfeymole, I think you ment master. The hard disk is sata, so the cdrom will be on its own. Merzbow- if you pluged a floppy cable into the cdrom drive, you may have bent a few pins. Check before rebuilding. Guest Wolfeymole Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Your right again mate, I have a lot of stuff going on the background here atm mate and I'm not concentrating. I'll boot the wife and grandkids out of the way. Quote
Merzbow Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 Yeah... I got the cable changed around... it's working now. Thanks for the help everyone. ^^ (More thanks to Wolfey though. <3) I still can't believe I'm that damn retarded to put a cable in that doesn't even fit... Sheesh. Well, I hope this helps anyone else with a problem like this at least. Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Well done Merz, I'm glad to see Dave and I have helped you to get going once more. Tell your friends about us if you will please. Quote
