Installing Hyper-V RTM - "The update does not apply to your system

I've been running the pre release versions of Hyper-V. I have downloaded the

RTM version and when I try to install it I get the error "The update does not

apply to your system".

Any ideas why? My system hasn't changed. I have now uninstalled my old copy

of Hyper-V, but I'm still getting the error.

Perhaps the update has already been installed? It has been available

through Windows update for a while now.

Good point Bill. So let me rephrase my question - how can I tell whether I'm

running a Release Candidate of Hyper-V or the RTM version?

I know I had to do a manual upgrade from the beta to a release candidate. I

was expecting to have to do the same for the RTM.

Re: Installing Hyper-V RTM - "The update does not apply to your sy

If "Update for Windows Server 2008 x64 Edition (KB50050)" is listed in

Windows Update, View Update History, you have the RTM version of Hyper-V.

In Hyper-V manager select Help, About - the RTM version reports Version

6.0.6001.18016 (not sure what the RC version reported- sorry!).

Perhaps this is a dumb suggestion, but there are two flavours of the RTM

update,

one for Windows Server 2008 32 bit

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=6F69D661-5B91-4E5E-A6C0-210E629E1C42&displaylang=ena

that has just the update for ther 32 bit version of the Hyper-V Management

Console and Virtual Machine Connection tool

and one for Windows Server 2008 64 bit

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=F3AB3D4B-63C8-4424-A738-BADED34D24ED&displaylang=en

for the computer running the Hyper-V role.

If you attempt to install the wrong flavour, you will get the message you

report.

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.

Hi Ivan Wilson

After the installation of Hyper-V please make sure you've visited

Microsoft update website to download the Hyper-V update from RC to RTM.

You need to update your version to RTM for it to be supported by

Microsoft.

Further discovery you may keep on reading about 'Hyper-V RTM

Installation & Configuration step by step'

Always Keepin' on touch.

Thanks
