Problems after reinstalling Windows XP

Since reinstalling my XP Home I have three problems of varying importance.

The first is having no sound, the drivers were installed correctly in order

and no downloads have proved helpful.

The second is an error upon Windows opening it reads 'The procedure entry

point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link

library PSAPI.DLL'.

The last is ridiculous but annoying. When pressing shift and hitting @, it

recognises it as being "

. Pressing the shift button and " reads as

an @ sign.

Any help would be welcomed.

Hello Martin67

On problem 1), no sound: Does the sound card or chip show as working

correctly in Device Manager? Have you tried deleting the entry there,

then rebooting and letting Windows re-detect it?

For 2), the error message on startup, this link may help:

<URL:http://www.hanselman.com/blog/TheProcedureEntryPointGetProcessImage

FileNameWCouldNotBeLocatedInTheDynamicLinkLibraryPSAPIDLLAfterIE7.aspx>

3) The keyboard problem: you don't say where you're located, but the

switching of @ and " sounds like you may have the UK English keyboard

layout selected. Check in Control Panel | Regional and Language Options,

Languages tab, Details button. If this is the case and you want the US

English keyboard, add this, then delete the unwanted one.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on :-)

Problem 1 is a driver issue, either incorrect sound card driver or bad installation.

What does your device driver window report?

Problem 2 is an issue with wireless cards and SP3 update.

You can either remove SP3, get an updated wireless card driver, or remove the TRS loading of the

"GetProcessImageFileNameW" (Windows Defender is a good program for this task).

Problem 3 is an issue with the keyboard. Either a faulty keyboard, or you have the wrong

nationality set for the keyboard.

You do not say what kind of PC you use. Laptop or desktop.
