Hi

Suddenly some websites are hardly readable, the font seems to be changed

and I can only read it if I chose (very) lager characters or set zoom to

150%.

Before this sudden change there was no problem. I can't thinks of any

changes I made to the system in between, though there might have been a

windows crash.

The wiki site is one of the sites with this problem

Using Firefox3 on the same computer shows the same site in perfect

condition.

I run winxp sp3 with ie7 (latest updates).

Thanks for reading.

Interesting problem. Usually it's the other way 'round.... fonts (the

entire page) look terrible in FF but use the view page in IE tab

option and everything comes into focus.

Hi,

The page http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoofdpagina looks OK to me with IE7,

IE8 and Fx.

First, clear the Temporary Internet Files.

Next... Start IE7 without add-ons from:

Right-click the IE icon on the desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.

or

Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no add-ons)

If the problem goes away, you have an incompatible browser add-on installed.

Start IE normally (add-ons enabled) then close it.

Go to IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable all add-ons then re-enable them

one at a time until the troublesome add-on shows itself. Leave that one

disabled or uninstall it or see if there's an updated version which won't

cause problems with IE7.

Next... the troublesome program may not be a browser add-on.

936214- How to troubleshoot compatibility problems that affect IE7 in

Windows Vista:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936214 (Also applies to XP)

If you have recently updated video drivers you might try rolling back to the

previous version - from Display Properties> Settings> Advanced> Adapter>

Properties> Driver.

Hope this helps,

Don

Thanks for your reply,

It took some time to get through the suggested solutions. I eveb sert

the video driver bacj. Indeed I upgraded it not too long ago, but that

was before the problem occurred. Nevertheless in case I was mistaken, I

set the driver back to an old version.

But: nothing succeeded I'm afraid. Since it seems to affect only one

site I really do frequent much and since I can get around it by zooming

or using FF3, I leave it for a while. Unless a fresh idea pups up.

Thanks for your thorough and elaborate suggestions though.

Re: font problem IE7

I have had the same problem on my HP laptop, running Vista Home Premium SP1,

IE7. Until a few days ago, Wikipedia sites displayed normally. Yesterday was

the first I noticed the change - the font was a very small italic script-like

font - it was very difficult to read. I switched to Firefox 3 and the page

displays normally. I double checked on my desktop, running XP Pro SP2, and

the Wikipedia sites are just fine.

Just to check if I was missing something, I downloaded IE8 and had the same

result, so I rolled back to IE7. Unfortunately, it appears that I can't

uninstall IE7 because it was shipped with and is integrated with Vista.

I'd welcome an answer as to why/how this happened, just to satisfy my

curiosity. I'll probably stick with Firefox just so I won't have to go back

and forth with the font and accessibility settings on IE7.
