sportingman Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Hi, I need to send my computer off to be repaired. But am a little worry about the security of my personal information. I don't keep any sensitive information on any files etc. Would very much appreciate if some savvy individual on here, could suggest some safeguards. Unfortunatley I can't get a technician to come down and fix at my home, which would be a much better option. Even more annoying is that the computer is only two months old. Any advice on this subject would be useful. Thanks in advance. William Quote
Jelly Bean Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Hello William.....I dont think there is any real way of protecting your data other than removale of the hard drive.....You could password files but passwords can be hacked......You can remove all files and put them to disk or an external hard drive and then delete them off your computer, however system restore or recovery software could recover the deleted files..... I think you just need to make sure you take the PC to a good computer repair shop and hope they dont do any snooping.... Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
