Guest Al Dykes Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 My IE7 (on XPSP2) has a pop-up that says "IE is running with add-ons disabled" and lots of stuff doesn't work. All the hits I get for that message tells me to go to Tools -> Manage add-ons. When I do that, it's greyed out. How do I fix this? TIA. -- Al Dykes News is something someone wants to suppress, everything else is advertising. - Lord Northcliffe, publisher of the Daily Mail

Tools> Manage Add-ons is greyed out when add-ons are disabled via the troubleshooting shortcut that starts IE7 without add-ons. Open IE7, click Tools menu> Internet Options> Programs tab> Manage Add-ons button, and manage them from there. You select each add-on in turn and click the Enable radio button at bottom to enable each. If enabling them all causes a problem, then you have to disable them and only enable a small group at a time, till you find which ones are causing a problem. Guest Rey Santos Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 RE: Help! Can't fix "IE is running with add-ons disabled" sRight click on the shortcut used, if the Target path is "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff, you are using using shortcut in the system tools that launch IE with add-ons disabled (Start>All Program>Accessories>System Tools>Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) Then go to Program Files/Internet Explorer folder, right click and drag "iexplore.exe" to the Desktop and create a shortcut. Use that shortcut instead. -- Rey "Al Dykes" wrote: > > My IE7 (on XPSP2) has a pop-up that says "IE is running with add-ons > disabled" and lots of stuff doesn't work.
