joshuafalls Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Hi My Toshiba C650 Hardrive Was making some noises over the last few days and now its not loading the OS or anything. I have an old laptop an Advent 7201 It has a 160gb hardrive thats WD Scorpio Blue and the Toshiba laptop has a Toshiba Disk Drive MK2565GSX. Is there any way i could swap the harddrives round because when i put the Advent HD in the Toshiba it comes back with a blue screen but its only on for a few seconds and cant read what it says. Do you think the Advent HD will work in my Toshiba somehow ? Thanks Quote
Plastic Nev Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. Providing that the Advent hard drive still works yes it can be done but you will need a full copy of the operating system that is on it, or the copy of the operating system that was on the Toshiba, preferably the Toshiba disk or disks. Do you have the Toshiba disks? At the moment the operating system that is on the Advent drive, Windows XP or whatever, is seeing an entirely alien environment and will refuse to boot. Nev. Jelly Bean Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) Butts in... Swopping hard drives means BOTH hard drives need to have the exact same operating system on them......Then reboot and repeatedly tap F8 key and choose last known good config from the list.....This dont always work though but worth a try..... Two diffrent operating systems means a reinstall of windows.... Are you sure the old hard drive is still good?
