I realise this may not be the correct place to post but so far have not

been able to find an active news group for windows vista.

Since increasing the size of the partition on which i have Vista Home

Basic installed it has refuses to boot, stops at BSD:

'If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen restart

your computer.

If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer, remove any newly installed hard

drives or

hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly

configured, and terminated. Rucn CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive

corruption,

and the restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFFA60005AF900, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034,

0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)'

I have run an up to date virus checker over the partition, rebuilt the

partition table, reinstalled the MBR, de fragmented the entire disk, run

DSKCHK /F, tried the rescue from the CD, tried re-installing drivers,

searched the knowledge base and many community forums, all without

locating a solution. And contacted MS who say i'm not entitled to ANY

support unless i pay then 46GBP....back to Linux me thinks, unless

anyone here can help or direct me to an active support/news group.

<rant>

Think i should have bought XP64 instead as Vista seems to be back in the

WinSE era with wierd issues, incompatabilities (half my software won't

run), driver problems and it tries to tell me how i should use my

computer, wants to install run security software thats not secure and

not needed on my system etc. etc. Stuff that by default should be turned

off with the option to turn it on if required, instead i have to rumage

around in its internals to find some way to turn stuff off and make it

stay off .... ARGGGG.

</rant>

Thanx for any feedback.
