Guest jfoster-pusd Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Sometimes the terminal service session hangs at the point the desktop has been loaded. The screen looks normal until the mouse pointer is moved to the task bar or start button and then it becomes an hour-glass. I have seen this more commonly as administrator session on servers that are not true terminal servers. At that point I cannot login to the console either - same symptom. I must login as a different admin user and reset the session to recover from this. The only clue I have is that the hung up user has userint.exe open when this occurs (observed from a different admin session). The servers are all Server 2003 Standard Edition - SP2 on Dell Power Edge 1950. Antivirus is Sophos. Any help is welcome. -- Jim Foster Consultant

Perhaps you should try enabling USERENV logging and see what is happening during this time: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/221833 You might also try disabling/uninstalling Sophos. -- Alicia Chen This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Guest jfoster-pusd Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Re: Terminal Services sometimes hangs Alicia, I have enabled USERENV logging as you suggested but now the problem has not re-occurred. Will keep looking for another failure. Seems to be happening less frequently. Thanks for the tip. -- Jim Foster Consultant "Alicia Chen [MSFT]" wrote: > Hi Jim, > > It is difficult to determine what could be wrong from the description you > have given.
