Guest rbb Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 I installed Windows Defender properly and it shows in my Add or Delete Programs list. Can I assume that it's on and running all the time? There's no icon in my taskbar.

When you installed Defender, you were asked to set up a schedule for how often you wanted it to run - I have mine set to run once a day. Open it - if it made it's last scheduled scan, that will show at the bottom under "Last Scan at . . ." If the green check mark at the top says everything is OK, it's fine. If the yellow exclamation point is telling you to check for updates, do that. Guest rbb Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Re: is windows defender on ??? Tony: Many thanks. The green check is there and I set Windows Defender to scan regularly earlier. At the bottom of the web page, it says "Real Time Protection: ON." Does that confirm that it is always protecting my computer from outside threats?
