I have downloaded and installed SP3 three times already.

Just now I got a notice, next to the clock, that SP3 was downloading and

then got another one that it was ready to install.

I'm trying to turn off these notices So I go to System Properties>Automatic

Updates.

But once I get there I already have a check mark in "Notify me but DON'T

AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOAD or install them."

Still the OS always downloads SP3 and there's nothing I can do to stop it

from downloading.

What's happening and how can I stop it from doing this every day.

Re: Service Pack 3

Start | Run | (type) winver | OK | Does the second line in the resulting

applet say "Service Pack 3"?

If you posted using the machine in question, I don't think it will because

SP3 is not installed according to your headers (Microsoft Outlook Express

6.00.2900.3138).

Re: Service Pack 3

Nope, it doesn't.

It only says SP2 on it.

That's weird after having installed SP3 three times and it's still saying

sp2.

Anyway I guess I'll try it once more.

Thanks a lot for your help.

-- Hello ,,, Go directly to Microsoft.com , click on Security and Updates

.. Click on "Microsoft Update" . Select Express . after the scan for updates

is complete .. you may see another SP3 available . Install that update .

Often the Auto update alert get corrupt . Direct check at Microsoft for

updates is more reliable .

XP

Media Center Editio

SP2

Norton Internet Security 2008

Webroot SpySweeper

IE7

Laptop HP dv9010
