Guest Billy B Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 I am currently running WinXP SP3 and want to install Wndows Server 2008. Can I do an upgrade or do I need to do a fresh install? It would be really nice if I didn't have to re-install all my programs again. Thank you.
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Re: Upgrading to Server 2008 Hello Billy, XP is a desktop and not a server OS, if you like to keep your installation install the equivalent VISTA version and check before in the vendor website of you software if it is compatible or run the upgradeadvisor: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=42b5ac83-c24f-4863-a389-3ffc194924f8 If you still will install 2008, then you have to start from scratch.
