Hello guys. My computer can not find any Bluetooth device. It does not have an integrated card, so I have bought a USB Bluetooth adapter. The system says its drivers are installed successfully it is working properly.

The Bluetooth Enumerator is shown in Settings-Hardware so the driver is Microsoft.

"Allow Bluetooth devices to find this comp" is checked

"Allow Bluetooth devices to connect" is checked

Bluetooth support service (bthserv) is shown as "Started" in the services. It is set as Local system.

My Bluetooth mouse and Bluetooth enabled mobile phone both are switched on work well and should be visible.

There is no interference from other sources

Still when I click Add device my computer can not recognize any

(I have lenovo G770 laptop, lenovo Bluetooth mouse and Sony Ericsson phone). When I press "connect" on my mouse it blinks but can not find the computer either.

Can anyone tell me what possibly can be wrong?

(I found an integrated lenovo G550 Bluetooth card - do you think it will work with my G770?)

Many thanks for your advice,

Alex

Thanks Randy, I went through all that already. It did not work. Now the manufacturer confirmed that his dongle does not work with 64-bit Win 7 and recommended me to use the embedded Windows 7 Bluetooth software which will work with their dongle. But I have no idea how to do it, I am unable to trace any embedded Win 7 Bluetooth software in my OS.

For those who face similar problem all i have found so far is this instruction of how to install the driver http://bluetoothinstaller.com/ but this is a bit too intrusive and may not be necessary if the driver is already installed. Methinks.

One lesson is there for sure do not believe the manufacturer if he says the dongle will work with Win 7. It may, but only with 32-bit. I am still looking for one that works with my OS. It is Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit. There are some here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Browse.aspx?type=Hardware&category=Networking&subcategory=Bluetooth%20Adapters like Toshiba ones but thier price a bit too high to my liking.

Any advice is highly appreciated.

If it is not one of the compatable ones I don't see any hope. Not all hardware is going to work on all versions of Windows and not all are going to work on 64 bit. I would go for one of the compatable ones on the list.

Hi, I don't know where the manufacturer gets the idea from that bluetooth is an embedded feature of Windows 7. I have the professional version and can't find any reference to bluetooth on mine either.

I would be looking to a dongle that will work with the 64bit system as Randy says.

I have bought BeeWi dongle and it works. It is very cheap on Amazon. I have already bought BeeWi dongle and it works. It is very cheap on Amazon. Just in case tou have similar problem - they sell it as BeeWi BBA200. Now, there are BBA200 A0 and BBA 200 B0. The manufacturer confirmed that B0 works with Win 7 64, and A0 does not.

And it is absolutely tiny.

I bought a cheap Technika one sometime back in Tesco. I plugged it in and Windows detected it and installed the generic Windows Bluetooth drivers for it. If I remember rightly It is a Toshiba in disguise. I don't think It worked properly in Vista or 7. Managed to get it to go using the newest Tesco drivers (Download from their site ) on XP only. I had problems with the cheap Tesco value USB webcam (i'm rambling / buy stuff to test for fun/out of interest) and that was a Canyon -> downloaded the Canyon drivers and there was a manual (rather than automatic installation package) driver which worked great. Determining the real/true manufacturer is often the greater part of the battle?
