Some websites keep download random files on my computer, last one was .rar and my anti-virus program cannot scan it, how do I remove it?

So it's not first time I'm am dealing with such problems.In the past a website has downloaded a .zip file by itself and to be honest I'm not much of a tech guy and don't know much about removing those files.But I believe the anti-virus program has deleted it and that my computer is safe, but today another site has downloaded a file and this time it's locked and my program can't scan it since it requires a password .I am concerned for my computer's safety and I don't know what should I do.
