Double click stopped working on desktop

I've searched the forums for an answer with no luck so am posting my own

question.

Double click stopped working on my desktop icons and folders after

encountering some script kiddies at play on a gaming forum (I use Firefox for

a browser). I've ran a couple of different virus scans finding nothing. I

re-installed mouse drivers. I attempted to do a restore with no luck. (It

fails no matter which date I attempt to restore to)

Short of formatting again, I have no clue what to do. Any and all help is

greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

See if the undo on line 27 and line 72 helps:

Hi Kelly,

I can't get that page to load, just see a blank page, even when I manually

put in the addy. I guess it's just not my day today lol!

RE: Double click stopped working on desktop

UPDATE

I've discovered that only my desktop seems to be affected. My hubby's works

fine on the same computer. I'm really puzzled by this! I'm going to be

doing some more checking/working on the monster. :-D

I had someone with this symptom / fix - if " browser icon" and "My

computer" only - try it.

She couldn't double-click IE or My Computer - she COULD right-click on

them - open - that worked Ok. I adjusted mouse click rate - same thing. I

"customized desktop" to REMOVE IE , My Computer - logged off. Logged on -

put icons back on desktop and - then double-click worked. I saw nothing in

event log before/after. Why did it work - I don't know but - something

somewhere apparently had a glitch. Removing them + adding back reset

"whatever was bad".

I checked next day - all Ok. That was a few weeks ago and she hasn't

called back.

You rock!! All I had to do was adjust the mouse speed and that was it.

There was no need to delete any icons, folders, or re-boot my computer.

A million thanks!!
