Old laptop had almost ground to a halt so purchased new Hewlett Packard TS13 with Windows 7 Home Premium. Instructions say that, on connecting with printer (HP6940), the system will automatically detect and install it. It did not do this, so went through manual install procedure. Messages say that the driver has been downloaded and the printer installed as default (confirmed on printers & devices screen), BUT everytime I try to print it won't and flags an immediate error message. Have tried deleting item(s) in print queue and uninstalling and reinstalling printer several times without any success. Diagnostics indicate a "connectivity problem". Is this a problem with the printer to computer USB cable connection or what..........? Why didn't the laptop detect the printer automatically? Help please!!!

Hi, and welcome to ExTS

There are 2 options for the drivers for Win7 - 32 or 64 bit.

Did you install the correct one for your O/S ?

Drivers are here:

Some printers need the software installed before the hardware itself.

Was the printer connected when you installed the drivers?

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Thanks for that ............. in fact correct driver had downloaded/installed ok. However, I have been through the procedure again this time installing as a network computer and inputting the printer IP address, and it has worked! Printer now functioning so problem resolved, thank you.
