Guest Spiral Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Following SP2, the bootscreen removed home and pro from the screen. Anyone know the philosophy behind this?

It did, IIRC through SP1a, and was removed. The version does show on WinVer, IIRC. Guest Loopy Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Re: Why did "Home" and "Professional" get removed? It was noticed and thoroughly commented on when SP2 came out. It is old news now. How many users of Professional would waste their time with a dual- or multi-boot config that included the Home version? If you had Pro, why would you also have a crippled version (Home)? If you use Pro at work and Home at home, you already know by physical location which version you are using and aren't expecting some confirmation in a boot screen. Not everyone using Windows XP cares for the Fisher-Price boob UI and configures XP to get rid of it. In the standard login screen (i.e., when not using the Fisher-Price Welcome screen), it does say "Professional". Don't know about the Home version since I don't waste my time with it.
