Guest John Schneider Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I'm about to take the plunge and move to Vista. Before I do, I'd like to create a list of everything in my start menu. I realize it is a combination of items in my personal menu and the "all users" menu. I'm looking for some way to create a listing (preferably in a tree format) of all the programs I currently have installed. I've been poking around the web and don't see any tips for this. Any ideas? Thanks!

You might try Belarc <http://www.belarc.com/> It won't give you a list of what's on the start menu, but it will list ALL programs installed on the machine in HTML format which can be printed. Plus it's free! hth -- cfnewsDO@NOTmchsi.SPAMcom "I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid." - Terry Bradshaw -

I'd still like to find out if there is something out there to get a graphical hierarchical representation of the start menu. Thanks!

I've never used it but you might be able to use a directory print utility such as: JR Directory Printer http://www.spadixbd.com/freetools/jdirprint.htm And then print the contents of your start menu folders: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Start Menu hth -- cfnewsDO@NOTmchsi.SPAMcom "I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid." - Terry Bradshaw -
