Guest Woody Kee. Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Hi all, I can't delete or rename files on shared folder that I have been opened. it always say Cannot delete or rename this file : It is being used by another person or program close any program that might be using the file and try again. I quite sure nobody opened this file and I rebooted the client machine. I have to reboot my server to solve this problem but it's too bad if I have to do it every time this problem happened. Does anyone know ? What is this reason? and how to fix this? Thank you, Woody Kee.
Guest Masterplan Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 RE: File locked by something.... Hi Woody Kee, You can use free tools like Unlocker or Process Explorer from Sysinternals to view what application is locking that file and then to unlock it. -- Have a nice day! http://winmasterplan.blogspot.com "Woody Kee." wrote: > Hi all, > > I can't delete or rename files on shared folder that I have been opened. > > it always say Cannot delete or rename this file : It is being used by > another person or program close any program that might be using the file and > try again. > > I quite sure nobody opened this file and I rebooted the client machine. > > I have to reboot my server to solve this problem but it's too bad if I have > to do it every time this problem happened. > > Does anyone know ? If that still won't work, boot into Safe Mode and try again. -- Regards, Hank Arnold Microsoft MVP Windows Server - Directory Services
Guest Woody Kee. Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 RE: File locked by something.... Thank you Masterplan, but I found the SYSTEM and wmiprvse.exe hold this file. I'm not sure that we can end process SYSTEM. and when I end process wmiprvse.exe it didn't help any. the file still can't rename or delete.
