Hi,

I wonder if anyone can explain to me why the homepage on my pc (using windows xp) keeps changing.

I want to keep www.Yahoo.co.uk as my homepage, but it keeps reverting back to

MSN.Com

I have gone to internet options, changed the homepage, press apply/go and it changes for about two weeks.

On the Yahoo homepage is says, "make Yahoo your homepage". I do this but still it reverts back.

Am I doing something wrong.

Hi, I assume you mean the home page of your browser which again I assume is Internet Explorer.

Just to try and prove a point have you yet tried a different page as the home page, just for an example you could try ours for Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help, but any other page would suffice.

Also what anti virus have you got installed, also which firewall, and any other security products such Malwarebytes or other antispyware?

If so have you run any scans with them, sometimes virus or other malware can change home pages.

Hi Nev.

Yes it is internet explorer that I have.

I have Superantispyware

Spyware Blaster

Malwarebytes and

Eset

The firewall is window Firewall

It still happens no matter what I put as my homepage.

I have done scans with all of the above and nothing comes up.

OK, the next move is to isolate whether it is a browser issue or something else, the simplest way is to install a different browser and run that, see if the problem occurs on that. There are quite a few browsers around so try one at a time till you find one you like and see how it goes.

Common well known and used are=

Firefox.

Opera,

Chrome,

Safari.

Try Firefox first and see how you get on.

Check SuperAntispyware>Preferences>Hi-Jack Protection>Home Page Protection. Check or uncheck the second option.

Another thing you can try when in Internet options is to click Default before Apply>OK.

Have you installed the latest version of Internet Explorer? iexplorer has a history of security and other problems, so if you are using an older version you may experience some problems that have since been addressed in patches, you can usually find these in windows update.

I'd recommend you stop using Internet Explorer and try one of the other browsers Nev mentioned above. Unless you have browser toolbars installed your homepage should never convert to something else without your permission.

Thanks for your advice.

I will try another browser, but first I will try what Randyl has advised.

I went into Superantispyware and the hompage protection was not ticked. I have now ticked it and will run it for a while like that. If it still reverts back to msn then I will give Nev and Mag476 advise a go.

Thanks one and all.
