Cannot print from office

I am running office 2002 in a terminal server environment. One of the users

cannot print from excel, word, outlook. Only the office suite appears to be

affected. Each application returns a different type of error. Mainly,

check cables, reinstall driver etc. The user can print a test page and can

print from Sage.

This is the second time this has happened in the last 6 months. Previously

I had to recreate the users profile but I don't want to have to do this each

time it stops printing. The printer is an HP officejet Pro 550 and maps as

a session printer attached the to thin clients usb port.

Is there anyway I can fix this without recreating the profile?

In this case, most likely not. In the future I would look to try different

print drivers. I'm guessing you've installed the driver from a CD or

something. My guess is the print driver is not 100% terminal services

compatible. I would look to find a compatible driver. something off the

Windows CD itself or use the fallback drivers available with Win2k3 SP2.

Re: Cannot print from office

Hi Jeff

Thanks for your response.

I have installed the Windows 2003 Server driver for the printer on the

terminal server so I presume it is compatible. I do not understand how it

can print okay from other applications. Even the print preview returns the

same error. I do get slightly different errors for each office application

Word

Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup.

Check the print test page.

Make sure the printer is turned on and online.

Reinstall driver

Excel

Not enough memory to print

Check network connections

Check for a loose cable

Outlook

Script error in preview.dlg

Unfortunately recreating the user's profile has not fixed the issue this

time. This is driving me nuts!

Make sure that you use the *exact* version of the driver that is

tested by HP. You'll find it here:
