Guest Noah Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 All i am trying to setup a WSUS server for a small domain with about 50 clients. I have setup the group policy to point to the WSUS server without issue. However on the WSUS serer i am only seeing 2 machines ever connected. Shouldn't i be seeing all o them connected for management?
Guest Anthony [MVP] Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Re: WSUS Have a look in the registry of the clients to see if they have picked up the WSUS server as their update server. You can just search the registry for the server name to find this. If not, you can use gpresult to see if the policy was applied. Guest Meinolf Weber Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Re: WSUS Hello Noah, Run "gpresult /v" on the client to see if the policy is applied. Are all machines in the OU where the GPO is linked to? Also in ADUC you can run RSOP to see if the policy is applied for the machines. Just rightclick one machine name, ALL TASK, Resultant set of policy. Guest Noah Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Re: WSUS The policy is being applied to the machines. I find it confusing that i only ever see two machines listed on the WSUS server? Guest Meinolf Weber Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Re: WSUS Hello Noah, Just a note, the client reports to the WSUS server, the server doesn't search for the client. This reporting will depend on your configured policies in the wuau.adm added to the administrative templates where you also set the http:\\servername:port Try on the client in the run line the command "wuauclt.exe /detectnow" It should report to the server in between 5 minuntes. Shouldn't i be seeing all o them connected for management? Most often this is due to the machines being cloned. Check in the microsoft.public.windows.server.update_services ng. There are many solutions that are easy to implement.... -- Regards, Hank Arnold Microsoft MVP Windows Server - Directory Services
