Guest spamlet Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I have recently started using a couple of MyBook hard drives for back up, connected by USB. With our XPPro system. When started with the pc they immediately behave like part of the system, but if started only when needed, with the system already running, a dialogue pops up asking if I want to transfer all the files from the new drives back to the pc. In case someone accidentally hits the wrong button, how do I stop the pop up dialogue applying to these particular usb devices? Cheers, S

Well found properties/autorun for the drives in MyComp. Seems a bit slow to have to tell it to do nothing for each file type in turn though. Now I'm wondering if there is a way, once I turn these drives off in 'safely remove usb device', to turn them back on again without unplugging them and plugging them back in, or switching off and on at their power supplies? These are aspects that somehow never occurred to me when trying to choose what to buy! S
