Could someone tell me if it is possible and how, to rename an entire folder

of files in a simple manor rather than one at a time as there are 2000+, the

files have all been named with a 4 digit prefix as such "0123 - afile.typ"

including the " - " some hoe i'd like to remove this so i am lft with an

alphabetical list of files instead. many thanks to anyone who can point me

in right direction Paul

Bulk Rename Utility.

But it renames in a pattern, like removes the "0123 - " if that's what

you want.

Check out the freeware program called Flexible Renamer. It can be found at:

http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA014830/english/FlexRena/

You can use it to selectively remove the "-" or any other combination of

character(s). It has more capabilities than I need but so far it has not

failed to do what I ask of it as long as I remember to let it change all the

files in a selected folder or manually select the individual files to

change.

I use it quite a bit to take MP3 files and append a sequential number to

them as my MP3 player uses the sorted filenames as the method (order) to

play audio book files. Like 000_Preface, 001_Chapter_One...

CK Rename is another good program for this.
