Guest Paul Crosby Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Could someone tell me if it is possible and how, to rename an entire folder of files in a simple manor rather than one at a time as there are 2000+, the files have all been named with a 4 digit prefix as such "0123 - afile.typ" including the " - " some hoe i'd like to remove this so i am lft with an alphabetical list of files instead. many thanks to anyone who can point me in right direction Paul

It can be found at: http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA014830/english/FlexRena/ You can use it to selectively remove the "-" or any other combination of character(s). It has more capabilities than I need but so far it has not failed to do what I ask of it as long as I remember to let it change all the files in a selected folder or manually select the individual files to change. I use it quite a bit to take MP3 files and append a sequential number to them as my MP3 player uses the sorted filenames as the method (order) to play audio book files. Like 000_Preface, 001_Chapter_One...
