Hi everyone,

Sorry, I wasn't sure which was the appropriate section to post my problem.

When I turn my computer on (Samsung R60 Plus) I get a blue screen before I get to the log in page.

The blue screen says:

'A driver has overran a stack based buffer, tells me to make sure new software is installed correctly etc, then

STOP: 0x000000F7 (0x80699899,0x8D1CED91,0x72E3126E,0,00000000)'

I've tried a system restore which didn't work, I've looked for newly installed software and there isn't any. I can get on safe mode with networking but can't perform a windows update.

Really don't know what else to do, any help would be REALLY appreciated.

Cheers,

Rob

This could be related to a number of things...device driver corruption, malware/spyware, etc.

First, try running chkdsk to see if it corrects any system errors. You can then check the scanlog to see what may be an issue, if that did not clear things up. In any case, when you do get back into windows, be sure to regularly purge your temp folders...windows, user's, and prefetch folders.

To run chkdsk, boot your computer into safe mode with prompt. For reference, see the 'Command Prompt Method' at the bottom of the following article: How to Run CHKDSK

If that does nothing, and the scanlog is not helpful, try scanning for malware/spyware; I recommend using malwarebyte's anti-malware.
