Web Access Home Directory

I am a tech coordinator for a rural K-12 school district. I would

like to provide a way for students to access their home directories

through a web interface. As a school, my budget is not very big.

Anybody know of any open source or inexpensive ways to do this. I

have played with FTP and User Isolation on 2003, but I don't like the

way that their passwords are visible in the addressbar and are sent

via plain text. I would think this is something that would be on

sourceforge but I have been unable to find anything easy. Thanks for

any help.
