Guest Ch33zst34k Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 I recently re-installed XP SR3 on my home-built box and now whenever I attempt to run any of my games, I get a black screen on my monitor. I know the games are running since the audio comes in fine and the keyboard/mouse responses can be heard through the audio. Additionally, if I use my old CRT monitor, there is no issue but my Viewsonic flat-panel displays the black. My first guess was that it was video crad driver related so I updated nvidia drivers, then I went to the Viewsonic site and used their specific driver. No luck - I even tried rolling back to pre-SR-3 update and that doesn't resolve it. Anything I am missing ? Any help would be welcome ? -Gerry Configuration below: Computer: Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional OS Service Pack Service Pack 3 DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c) Computer Name SILVERBOX User Name Gerry Motherboard: CPU Type 2x , 2400 MHz (7 x 343) Motherboard Name Unknown Motherboard Chipset Unknown System Memory 2048 MB BIOS Type Award (08/09/07) Communication Port Printer Port (LPT1) Display: Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS (640 MB) Monitor Plug and Play Monitor [NoDB] (PXU061431144) Multimedia: Audio Adapter Creative SB X- Fi [NoDB] Storage: IDE Controller NVIDIA nForce 430/410 Serial ATA Controller IDE Controller NVIDIA nForce 430/410 Serial ATA Controller IDE Controller Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller Floppy Drive Floppy disk drive Disk Drive Iomega External HD USB Device (931 GB, USB) Disk Drive WDC WD4000AAKS-00TMA0 (372 GB, IDE) Disk Drive WDC WD4000AAKS-00TMA0 (372 GB, IDE) Optical Drive Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170A SMART Hard Disks Status OK Partitions: C: (NTFS) 381543 MB (248234 MB free) D: (NTFS) 381551 MB (381453 MB free) H: (NTFS) 953875 MB (791191 MB free) Total Size 1676.7 GB (1387.6 GB free) Input: Keyboard HID Keyboard Device Mouse Microsoft USB Wheel Mouse Optical Network: Network Adapter Gigabyte GN- WP01GS PCI WLAN Card(Turbo) (192.168.1.5) Network Adapter NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (192.168.1.4)
